I'm afraid I would have to disagree with your assessment of sushi being 'yummy' ... not because I've tried it, not because it wasn't done right ... but because I gag at the thought of raw fish ... cooked fish ... shellfish ... ANYTHING 'fishy' that comes out of the water! (well, rice I like, and I guess that's grown in water, but ...)
Still, it LOOKS lovely on the table! In fact, I thought they were yummy little cakes with fruit until I re-read the first part ... nope. fish never equals yummy in MY books!! Sorry!
You don't like seafood? Have you an allergy to seafood.. or just dislike them?? Of course, some of Japanese don't like raw fish, cooked fish, or anything fishy... and for your information.. sushi is not only fish.. egg, natto, and cucumber etc are also the stuff that you find in sushi.. as you can see in this pic.
And "natto"... I mean it's "fermented soybeans" in Japanese, which is made of soy beans (of course lol) one of representative Japanese food... it's a very healthy, but the smell is distinctive.. unique... so some Japanese people just detest it.... AND it's his GREAT FAVORITE! lol
I'm not allergic -- just don't like it ... smell, taste ... blech ... I've tried a lot of it, and no ... yuck ...
So could I actually eat sushi (if it is also egg, cucumber, natto ...) and not have to get a merest HINT of fish??? Hmm ... I could handle the rest, no problem! And what was on the table looked DELICIOUS!! (except for the tell-tale pink "tail" thingies on the front 'cake' -- shudder!) Even the soybean, probably ... my uncle grows soybeans so I do a lot of cooking/baking with them ... although I've never knowingly had them fermented! LOL
