My Real Ghostbusters Timeline
This is the timeline I use for my RGB fics with the exceptions of anything that is Au, or that directly says other ways.
This may not be the most accurate timeline based on cannon it is however the one I used based on my impressions on the show.
The hard facts I am using are that Ray Stanz the youngest Ghostbuster was born in 1959 as established in "It's About Time", The fact that in the first year of the show they were 'filming' the movie. "Something is Going Around" Is the first episode feature Louis as their account, setting it after the second move events. In "Partners in Slime" it is said to be one year after the events of vigo.
Facts I am assuming movies take about a year ( especially in that time) to be produced and released. Egon is older based on the level of education he has, even for a child prodigy with genius level intelligence such things would take time. By comparison Peter has two known degrees. Egon is at least 5 years older then Ray, Peter at least 3 years with Winston about Peter's age. Dana Barret left Peter within 6-9 months of the end of the events in the first movie. The first movie takes place over the course of at least 4 months but more likely 6 months. This is based on the assumption that it would have taken time from the first ghost sighting, to their bust of Slimer, as well time would have passed enough for them to establish some kind of reputation by the time they hired Winston.
Early timeline:
1954 : Egon Spengler is born.
1956: Peter Venkman and Winston Zeddemore are born
1959: Ray Stanz is born.

1968: Egon Spengler entered university at age 14 started at MIT
1972: Egon switched to Columbia University to attend Parapsychology studies despite protests at age 18
1974: Peter enters Columbia University on a sports scoloarship.
1977: Ray Stanz enters Columbia University, Ray meets Peter and Egon.
1978: Assists them in their joint Parapsychological experiments to complete their respective doctorates. After which Peter also goes on to complete his Psychology doctorate.

1981: Egon, Peter and Ray are all employed by their Alma Mater for the study of Parapsychology and the Supernatural.
1982: Fired from Columbia, finds their first ghost. Start the ghost busters and develop equipment used for ghost busting, use it and gain popularity. Stop Gozer. Peter dates Gozer/Zuul victim Dana Barret.
1983: Dumped by Dana after less then a year due to his 'insecurities'. The events of "Ghost R Us" to "Xmas Marks the Spot"
1984: The events of "Knock,Knock to "Hole in The Wall Gang"
1985: The events of "Baby Spookums" to "Transylvanian Homesick Blues"
1986: The events of "Flip Side" to "Brooklyn Triangle"
1987: Events of the second movie.
1988: The events of "Something is Going Around" to "The Halloween Door"
1989: The events of "Russian About" to "Deja Boo"
1990: The events of "The Treasure of Sierra Tamale" to "20,000 Leagues Under the Street"
Note: Based on this by the events of the first movie the ghost busters would have been Egon=28, Peter/Winston=26, Ray=23. By the end of RGB this would have made them Egon=36, Peter/Winston=34, Ray=31
Note2: while I'm unlikely to write in the Extreme universe assuming an 9-12 (based on the apparent age of Egon and Janine)year time gap their stories would take place in the area of 1999 to 2002 making Egon 45-48, Peter/Winston=43-46, Ray=40-43, the kids likely around 18-21
