(NOTE)I do not own these people the belong to Tessa Stone author and artist of Hanna Is Not A Boy's Name

It had started easily enough something they had done a hundred times before this one didn't even require any complicated plans no blinds or third parties. Just a simple delivery take package (a) from warehouse (b) and deliver to location (c). It couldn't have been any easier there was no way for them to mess it up.

Which was why now 5 hours later he sat on the sofa which was slowly leaking its stuffing out from numerous holes. Ignoring the pain from his throbbing hand as he tried to sew up the deep gashes. Worth's smug look as he dangled the sheers did not help improve the Italian's mood after all it was all the blond's fault to begin with.

Worth had a big mouth he always had and Lamont had plenty of evidence to suggest he always would. Lamont had even taken that into account talking to the man in the warehouse personally, the only reason the blond was ever along was to act as a second pair of eyes and hands.

Lamont had done this before and everything had been fine, this time however the man's big mouth had gotten him in trouble. Even now he didn't know exactly what Worth had said or done to rile up the group, or what had possessed the skinny blond Aussie to pick a fight with 6 large, heavily tattooed black man but he had.

When Lamont had come out with the package he had found Worth surrounded one man stepping on the twig thin wrists while another kicked the slimmer man's stomach. Lamont knew that his friend was a decent fighter despite his size, he also knew Worth enjoyed getting a little beat up. Normally this would mean he might leave the blond if it was one or two guys but six ...He tried to asses Worth's condition as he headed over though he didn't exactly rush, at least not until he saw the streetlight glint off a switch blade. He dropped the box to the ground and switched into a run, the crack of his knuckles hitting the back of the skull loud enough he didn't hear the contents of the box break.

The thug with the knife didn't even make a sound as he fell onto hands and knees and the knife clattered out of his hand. Lamont cracked his knuckles even as he brought his heel down on the spot he had just punched leveling the man. " Alright then, who's next?" He didn't give them the chance to answer, charging forward and shoving into the one pinning Worth's wrist giving the blond room to fight if he could.

By the time they had finished with the thugs and retrieved the package Lamont realised something had broken in it. By the time they got it to the destination and dealt with an irate man who not only refused to pay them but slammed the door on their faces Lamont was irritated. Worth had been quiet after the fight, not that he expected an apology but ...

"Dammit Luce now were out 60 bucks and a potential client, do you know how bad it's gonna get if they think they can't trust us!?! What the fuck were you thinking getting into a god damn fight with 6 guy who could turn you into a pretzel!" Worth opened his mouth to speak and Lamont growled too angry to think straight. "No you know what no more of your fucking excuses, if you don't watch your fucking big mouth I'm not helping your miserable ass any more Luce. " The blond now that he thought back on it had he looked ... upset? He wasn't sure but it wasn't a look he was used to seeing, thoughts of it faded moments latter though as the man snarked.

" No one asked ya ta charge in like some bleedin' prince ta rescue me Monty so just keep your arse ta yer self, and don't get yer panties in a bunch cause you fucked up eh?" He smirked then and he had been insufferably smug since mocking even Lamont for having a hero complex, even saying the only reason he saved Worth all the time was that no woman would touch him.

Lamont eyed the stitched knuckles then Worth, despite every barb and jest the blond had leveled he saw a kind of far away worried look in his eyes. Yes definitely worried just like he had been ... Lamont sighed he felt like kicking himself and he knew he shouldn't do this. He shouldn't care because next time or the time after that Worth would do the same, and yet that look.

"Eh hehe heh " the laughter a signature of his nerves and he gave the other man a look as he handed back the sheers. Worth caught the look as he tucked them back in his bag but didn't say anything, merely lit another smoke letting the grey fog curl up and around his head. Lamont laughed again before he tried to lean back and stretch out his legs, ignoring the spring that poked out in places.

He tried to look calm and casual as he lounged there staring at his knuckles and his hackney stitching. "So I never did let you tell me what happened out there. " He offered hoping that maybe Worth wouldn't be pissed enough to make him beg for it.

Worth smirked and blew a puff of smoke at Lamont's face baring his teeth slightly "Aww lil Monty's curious now es he well maybe I don't feel like talking after all, I gotta watch me mouth eh?" He smirked at the other man, though that tiny flicker of emotion appeared on his face again. That emotion that Lamont studied this time now that adrenaline and anger weren't in the way.

"Yeah I know I'm an asshole I was angry, yer infaliable now will you tell me what the fuck happened out there?" Lamont watched the other man, he could almost see the debate hazing over his eyes like the drifting cloud of smoke around him. Finally Worth looked down at his hands unlike Lamont his were unmarred mostly because his combat style involved a lot more hold and sharp elbows, knees to chins and stomachs. Lamont knew how to use his mass and mobility to damage, Worth a much smaller and physically weaker man knew how to use a man's weakness against him with his still-born schooling.

"They tired to hire me" The words were soft and mater of fact, the blandness of the delivery the only thing that kept him from slugging Worth to make the man get on with it. "When I said aye wasn' fer sale ... they decided tah takeit fer free "He trailed off then no curses no flippant comments and Lamont thought about Worth said and what he didn't.

Little things snapped into place and you could almost see the proverbial light bulb snap on over teh Italian's head 'hire me' not them, 'take it for free' , hadn't one of the men been pulling off his belt? Lamont had assumed at the time it was a improvised weapon but ... He looked at the blond next to him slim frame, slender hips not a girl by any means but not bad looking. Expensive shirt and shoes, tight jeans ...

"Well fuck" He seemed a little stunned and swallowed " Luce I didn't.." The blond snorted and cut him off "Common now Monty no need to get all girly and weepy ya fag." Lamont snorted and slugged the man in the shoulder before he got up to get some beers.

Luce Worth might be a lot of things. He was irritating, intelligent even if he hides it, an asshole, an addict, and a he had the manners most times of a old sailor. He was also someone you could count on in a fight, someone who would kill for his friends, someone who wouldn't kick you if you were really down (though he would if you were just wallowing).

'In short' thought Lamont as he handed the blond his beer as he slumped back onto the god awful couch, 'He's my best friend, and always will be.'
