Ron Paul's libertarian stance anonymous May 16 2007, 06:51:30 UTC
I understand how you feel about Ron Paul's libertarian stance on education. In general constitutionalists and libertarians feel that such issues should be left up to the State governments so that the federal government will remain small and limited, thus people have more liberty and sovereignty.

After thinking about it for awhile, I came to the conclusion that it really doesn't make much sense for the federal government to rob us via "taxes" and then offer our money back to us with strings attached after they have pocketed a considerable portion of it. Seems better to let the State & local governments take care of these things, we'd have more control over how the money is spent and less strings attached. All in all, it's better for the federal government to keep their hands out of the education system rather than to have unfunded mandates like "no child left behind". In this case, the feds aren't giving any money back anyway and just telling us how to run our schools.

I think I'll go with Ron Paul's stance.
