I had mice a couple years ago. The sticky traps and the wood/metal snap traps = not fun.
I ended up buying a trap that would capture the mouse inside without hurting it, but by then my roommate had bought spray/foam insulation to fill the space underneath our walls, and so I never used it. It's sitting in my closet some place. It's plastic and reusable. I got it at Lowe's or Home Depot for around $10.
we had a family of rats under the deck in my backyard. no-kill traps worked just fine. we got them at home depot. i released them at my old junior high afterward muahaha

just kidding, i vote for the no kill traps too. but if you don't want them to die i'd keep a close eye on the pup!
