It's a baby something!

A couple of weeks ago the rumor was going around that the new Doctor Who companion was the daughter of TenII/Cloen/Handy and Rose. (And like 95% of Doctor Who rumors, it was fairly quickly disproved.)

I could totally picture something like that happening - it's a good way to give a nod to Rose (who was voted favorite companion of all time for what, 2 years in a row now?), yet keep things 'fresh'.

Original!Doctor would be emo probably, in a bittersweet way.

As far as special powers go, I think she'd have them in some form or another (reading timelines and such). I think it's pretty canon-ish (or canon-esque, or canon-like) that Time Lord genes are dominant over human genes (a la River Song, or even I suppose TenToo if you squint, bc he didn't suffer the same fate as Donna and had the same capabilities as Ten, despite being part Donna).

And lol no running off anywhere XD Raising a kid together was one of the things RTD envisioned for TenToo/Rose, and I don't think he woulda said that if he thought there would be any angst involved. This is 'the one adventure [Ten] could never have' - and finding peace, and a family, and a real place for himself is all part and parcel of that! =)

Anyway, IN A HYPOTHETICAL REALITY WHERE I THOUGHT CHILDREN WERE EVEN REMOTELY ON THE TABLE, I cannot think of anything more terrible that a parent could do then let their child travel with Eleven. Idk, if I thought kids was a happily ever after ending, I'd expect them to travel with said sprog(s) once they were old enough, and until the inevitable teenage rebellion when one child decides to become an accountant and the other joins the Army. Probably not much in the way of special powers, either.

Eleven probably wouldn't notice either way.

Honestly, I think if they had children together, they'd take them on their travels, first around the Earth and then if they grew a TARDIS, around the universe. Showing your kids neat stuff as you travel is something most parents love to do. And Ten2 would be all travelogue and Rose would go, "That was in the other universe. Here we have..." And the kids would roll their eyes and totally snark about how Dad doesn't know where he is and then Rose would say, "He never did," and make him stop for directions and he'd pretend to but really be buying a mega-sized chocolate bar that he'd feed the kids behind her back.

So they'd all go to Brazil, but together. Then when they were older, Ten2 would totally try to abandon them with appropriate lifemates like Susan and for that matter, Rose. But Rose would make them go back for visits.

But if they did have kids, I think they would wait a while, spend a good five to ten years adventuring without them.

Yeah I mean, if they were going to have kids, I'd imagine it would play out more like this than like "WELL BYE GUYS, going to another universe I guess!"

LOLOL this!!

Agreed re traveling together - that's def what you do as a family, especially one as naturally adventurous as the Doctor's! After all, he gladly showed Susan the universe!

LOL idk I mean define 'picture something like this happening'. With the show right now? Under Steven Moffat? Never. There's no way. He has no interest in revisiting the RTD era (and I don't particularly want him to, so that's fine). I think in terms of future showrunners it becomes less and less likely as Rose becomes further and further in the past of the show -- I mean eventually you hit a point where OMG SHE'S RELATED TO ROSEEEEEE is on the same level as OMG IT'S REGENERATED ROMANA!!!!! in terms of fan-delusion/wishfulness.

So... no I don't particularly see it happening ever? Which if you're me is an A+ situation because LOL NO THANKS. Maybe if RTD had still been running the show until now, but even then I find it very unlikely ( ... )

Your arguments for why it would never happen seem valid. Like, possibly in 20 years they will bring Rose and Cloen back like they did with Sarah Jane, but randomly having someone being "BTW I'M ROSE TYLER'S DAUGHTER" seems... unlikely at best.

JUST AS LONG AS ELEVEN DOESN'T ACCIDENTALLY MARRY HER...

Yeah, or (god forbid) a cameo thing in the 50th, but I don't think they'd bring them on as much as would make sense if she was their kid. Moffat has a history of not giving a single fuck about the companions' homelife anyway, so I doubt he would make a companion with a complicated homelife or a homelife the audience might be interested in. I also think it would overshadow poor JLC (or whomever), because you'd have all these viewers being like WHO CARES ABOUT THIS GIRL, WHERE ARE HER PARENTS??

Well as the Doctor and Rose never really planned anything, I see any children as being accidents. Of course, I see it as happy accidents with a side of angst for TenII because I think he more than likely goes to angst land periodically while living in Pete's World. I agree with amberfocus, they take family trips together and the kids do a lot of eye rolling while their father takes wrong turns or ticks someone off and they all have to run for it ( ... )

I would totally love to see the kids meet Uncle Jack. And they have all these stories that Cloen and Rose told them. Like, all his naked stories. But wildly embellished. Uncle Jack would be a disappointment.
