Because they did an episode where Marshall and Lily wrote letters to be put in their wills and read upon their death. So Marshall wrote this weepy sappy thing about how much he loved her and so on. Then he got sneaky and opened Lily's letter and it was like, "Cancel Vogue, Elle. Pension account #, etc etc."

Soooooo, yeah, death CAN be funny.
