I had some iTunes credit layin' around, so I decided to use it and then some.

I just bought music from Reverend Horton Heat, Erasure, Caroline's Spine, Bangles, OutKast, Brandi Carlile, and Tine Thing Helseth - I be all over the map.

I feel so trendy. It's rare that I have actually heard of three bands in anybody's music posts.

The locked-in music that I like from way back was whatever my parents played or whatever was on pop radio. Otherwise, everything else is either because I'm Texan (RevHo!) or because I'm a trumpet geek (who just discovered Tine Thing Helseth yesterday, and she has an amazing tone and sound, especially for a ~20 year old...I have lots of recordings of the trumpet concertos in question from Arturo Sandoval, Rafael Mendez, Wynton Marsalis, and others albiet my classical fu is weak, but I bought these because I was impressed with her sound even more).

So, does your knowledge of some of my selections bring familiarity, or pity? :P

Definitely familiarity, except for OutKast. That's turd in a punch bowl music right there.

I agree regarding OutKast.

It was only that "Hey Ya" song that was so whoop-de-doo catchy back in 2003. It was playing like crazy while I was studying for my private pilot written exam, so I just have positive associations with it in that context.

Shake it, shake it like a Polaroid. Maintain 1000' vertical separation from populated areas. Otherwise, I could give a rats ass about 'em.
