...I never thought I'd see Minchin and Cumberbatch on stage together, much less arguing over Hamlet 0.0

I haven't actually seen the entire thing yet - I was going to go to the cinema, but I feel like I've seen the best bit already! *g*

On the whole I considered the show a bit of a disappointment. I'm certainly happy I didn't buy a cinema ticket. The younger actors certainly all have a long way to go yet. I felt so embarrassed during the balcony scene and for that poor boy doing the Hamlet soliloquy. The ease with which BC delivered the line reminded me yet again that I didn't agree with the take on the play and the setting but that BC was a wonderful Hamlet.

But OMG I'm SO BLOODY EXCITED about Richard III! I can't wait! And am tearing my hair out for both evenings when it's being broadcast I will be doing other (fun) things. Thank God for obliging family with recording devices.

I was actually going to go to the cinema, but yeah, I feel I've seen the best bit already, so maybe not *g*. I thought the original guy was okay in his couple of lines, neither great nor terrible, but too soon to tell. I did think BC was great in his little moment, and that he *could* have been a great Hamlet, but I still don't think he was, for various reasons, not all to do with him. We'll see what RIII brings - at least I'm not particularly 'attached' to the play in particular, which helps immensely.

It's only on one night... or is it? imdb indicates 21 May, but I admit I haven't really been keeping up to date with it. Hee, that's sooner than I realised!

Edit: Oh, I see, he'll be in Henry VI part 2 as well. A play which I am almost sure I've never read *g*

Actually, Judi Dench, Ian McKellen and Roger Allam gave some great performances as well, but it will all be available on youtube, I suppose.

Well, we're both in good company for not having read Henry VI I guess. But I'm quite firmly attached to Richard III. Luckily, haiving seen the first (far too little) glimpses in the trailers I'm convinced BC won't disappoint. Here's one link. Please ignore the atrocious comments people have left on it. Really, what is it with people and the internet?
