Massive media roundup

Wanted to do another holiday post, but am feeling a bit uncommunicative. Nevertheless - media roundup! This one goes back about three weeks.

- Finally saw Victor Frankenstein (on the plane, to which it was perfectly suited). I do think I would have been disappointed if I'd made a trip to the movies specifically to see it, but as a gap filler it ( Read more... )

I also love Tim Curry - mainly in "RH", admittedly. But I have watched a lot of not very good films for his appearance in them. ;)

"Clue" is excellent though. It's actually been ages since I've seen it but reading your review makes me want to watch it again. :)

I love him, but not enough to chase down his other appearances. He's always a plus, though!

It is a ridiculously enjoyable movie *g*

After reading your recommendation of "Sherpa" I shot off two emails. The first to the director of my local film club. Perhaps he can obtain a copy. The next was to my cousin. So far, he's attempted to climb to the top of Mt. Everest three times, and is planning a fourth. Would love to hear his opinion of the film.

Cool, I wish you luck! I'm interested in your cousin's continuing efforts, too. While I don't know the reasons behind him not reaching the summit, at least he came back safe and sound each time, which does count for something. Maybe next time...

The only one I have seen of this was Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the Donmar,
I hadn't seen the play before so I had no previous version to compare it to, but I did really enjoy it, I thought Janet McTeer was fabulous in the part.

But yes, I so agree with you on Edward Holcroft and Una Stubbs. I looked back at what I wrote back then and I said: Una Stubbs seemed as sweet as ever but she had maybe ten lines that didn't leave much of an impression. And Edward Holcroft was sort of terrible, to be honest? I don't think he moved his face once in the whole thing. *hides* I'm sorry, I did like him in London Spy but he doesn't seem to be much of a stage actor, or at least not to my eyes...

I thought she was a fabulous actor, I guess I just wasn't on board with every nuance of her interpretation. But I did adore her in general *g*

Hee - he was a bit, um, wooden. I think that's the politest way to put it...

The only one of these I've seen is Clue, but I've seen it so many times. I fucking love it, and I'm so thrilled that you enjoyed it! It's just such a lovely bit of campy cheese and so quotable.
