I think for me it's because guys hugging flies in the face of homophobia. At least in America, there was a period of time where, if two guys did anything more than slap each other on the back, it would be seen as being gay. *rolls eyes* Two guys hugging means they're not afraid of the intimacy... which is great for us who like to watch! XD
