I think most of you are aware of this, as I met a good number of you through it, and I'm pretty open about it in my journal, but in case you friended me through something else and don't know, I write RPS, otherwise known as real person slash. Basically, this means I write a lot of stories about Peter Doherty and Carl Barat getting it on. ( Read more... )

I think you failed on that last part, Courtney.

So I was about to ask what prompted this (I mean, the whole "Fic what people write about Peter and Carl having the bumsex" is pretty prominently displayed on the left over there), and then I scrolled down my Flist. Ah.

Heh, yeah, it is. Although I'm guilty of reading with style=mine a lot (people sometimes have weird text color/font size choices), so I don't begrudge anyone for not seeing the links. I definitely don't try to hide it, but I suppose that I also don't usually explicitly state "I WRITE FIC ABOUT MUSICIANS BUMMING EACH OTHER" either, so I thought it might be good to get it out there for the benefit of anyone who didn't know so they can make their own decisions on whether I'm someone they want to continue associating with online.

Heh. Unrelated, but I just got an e-mail from Piranha Sushi (I'm on their mailing list for coupons) offering me a free birthday "desert" if I come in next week. Oh, dear.

See my response to libertine_lust - not a huge deal, I just felt compelled to put it out there.

Oh, it's nothing big. Just a post by someone who'd friended me from another board about RPS that made me realize that some people might not know what exactly it is that I write when I talk about writing fic. I don't want to call that person out or cause drama or whatever, because it's not a huge deal, but I thought I should make things clear in case there *is* anyone who finds RPS really offensive and wants to stop reading me.

Oh, God, really? I try to stay away from most of Who fandom because they're crazy. Ugh. It reminds me of the article I was reading yesterday about the first gay couple to marry in California, this really sweet old lesbian couple, and some of the reader comments made me want to vomit. I can't believe I share space on this planet with people who hate that much.

Again, I'd like to reiterate that I'm extremely sorry if I've offended you in any way because I would never wanna do that. I don't think anyone who writes RPF/RPS is a psycho or anything. I should've stated that the really terribly-written crap I've come across before is what I find sketchy and bizarre. My humblest apologies, D. I meant no disrespect.

I'm not offended, really. Like I said, I have people on my flist who I know don't read my fic. Some of them have told me why, others haven't, but I respect their decisions. I know RPS is not a subject on which there is universal agreement. It just occurred to me that maybe some people have friended me without being clear on exactly what I mean when I talk about writing fic, and so I wanted to get that out there so if it is a problem, people know that up front.

I'm so relieved you said that! I thought, "Great, I just put off a perfectly nice person by being flippant!" I want you to know that I respect your artistic endeavors even if I may not necessarily be as enthusiastic about the subject(s) as others are. I think it's very cool and responsible of you to put out there what it is that you write abut so often in case anyone is unaware and may be shocked or offended. Thank you for your level-headed and understanding explanation and also for taking a weight off my mind! I was so scared I'd hurt one of my beloved fellow snarkers!
