MEET: Game Design Coffee Sessions

Okie. The last thursday of every month is the meeting for a local Game Design group. While I love this group and will continue to attend their sessions, I need more. And more I mean more talk, more diversity, and stuff other than WoW analysis. Thus

Just some thoughts on locations:

Cafe Dabar, Naked on Jasper, or Bohemian Cybercafe - They have computers for easy referencing and all have coffee.
Remedy on 109th - comfy couches and good eats.
Windsor Bar and Grill - Booze and Coffee. Plus the Unix Usergroup used to meet here.

I'll scout out some more and bring pictures (if they allow me).

Discussion Topics:

What makes a good game?
How to make a great Design Document.
Player Types?
Narrative versus Mechanic.
Quests: Story or Grind.
Classes, Levels, and Skills.
Use of props and game pieces.

There are probably plenty more. Help me out.

I'm in. I could try to drag out some more friends too... lemme know when and where! I'm all about the practical ideas, and I've never played WoW. ;)

not into games, but a place you might like (it's quiet, has good grilled sandwiches and well priced coffee) is Conrad's Sugar Bowl on 124th St just a few doors down from the Roxy theatre....serviced by bus's #3,5,7, and 135.
