Okay here's the thing... I love John McClane, and the character progression is heartbreaking. In the first two films he gets the happy ending, but in the third he's in a Bad Place though there's still hope, but then in the fourth we find out that he never got out of the Bad Place and hardened into someone almost unrecognisable, and I just go D:
So what I crave for John is a happy ending, and your fic gives that. This, for all its domestic simplicity, is what I feel John McClane deserves, dammit. He needs someone who'll fix his tie and kiss him when he leaves for work, because.
So I read your fic, and I flail happily.
