Are you pre-pregnant?

Answer these three questions:

Are you female?
Have you had your first period?
Are you yet to reach the menopause?

If you answered yes to all three questions, then under recent US guidelines you should consider yourself as pre-pregnant, and adjust your behaviour accordingly.  From an article in today's Guardian:

it's been around in workplace health & safety/risk assessments for a while, although in this case it's been to protect any potential unknown pregnancy from anything known to be harmful (and of course therefore the employer from legal liability - the importance of each depends on how cycnical the observer is). Obviously making the potential mother themselves legally liable for any prescribed misuse is a removal of human rights and self responsibility. For women only too, obviously...

I'm having a French pregnancy if I ever get up the duff. I'm eating unpasturised bree and drinking red wine. Not that I'll be able to afford either as new maternity legislation will mean that potential employers will automatically regard me as a pregnancy time bomb just waiting to go off.

Right, cup of (caffinated) tea and a bit of Germaine Greer must be in order.
