My god you are the luckiest girl alive. My friend lives in Dumbo with her artist husband. Oh, wait, SHE is the luckiest girl alive. Go to Bleeker street records, and stare at the lovely vinyl. It's a brilliant shop. And find 'Veselka' which is a yummy polish restaurant in the East Village....And there's a brilliant cafe...it's opposite a little park in the east village..oooh, I can't remember it's name..aaagh...how long are you there?

I'll second the Veselka recommendation. The food there is excellent. It is very popular and waiting for a table can last as long as an hour, though. Best time to eat there is in the early morning, when the tables are plentiful and the breakfast is first rate.
