Melou's actually in a good mood today. And, of course, when Melou's in a good mood, it means he's walking around with a smirk on his face and looking (and acting) like a cocky arrogant bastard. At the moment, he's also looking extraordinarily pleased with himself

It's nearly New Years, and Muraki has been in the woods, clearing the snow off the Stone Table, preparing for a New Year's ceremony (a Circle Ritual of his own devising, culminating in striking a rim-gong one hundred-eight times, though he'd be the first to admit he's been working his way through many of those one hundred-eight sins which the gong strikes represent...). He's carrying a broom over his shoulder and singing an elemental chant half under his breath, half aloud, in his odd light baritone voice.

Spotting Melou, he'll pause, smirking a bit. "Someone looks like the cat that got into the cream," he says.

Usually, Melou would get angry at a comment like that (mostly because it's coming from Muraki). But today he just looks haughty.

"What are you doing here?"

That haughty look just makes Muraki smirk all the more annoyingly as he pauses. "Oh, I was merely doing some cleaning for New Year's Eve, brushing away some snow," he says.

"Well, I think you should go somewhere else," Melou tells him.

Okay, someone just as snarky and sensuous, but more friendly...

If he ventures close to the woods, he'll find a tall fellow in a long billowy coat, armed with a compound bow and taking practice shots at an improvised target. Spying Melou, he'll lower the bow and grin to the lad. "Someone looks like they got up on the right side of the bed," he says, with a slightly suggestive lilt.

Melou tries to look annoyed that someone's talking to him, but he's in such a good mood that it doesn't really work. There's the tiniest hint of a smirk playing at one corner of his mouth.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

Jack laughs, a hearty, naughty laugh. "Ahhh, you don't have to play modest with me," he says, grinning that five-hundred watt grin of his. "I know what a young man looks like when he's gotten lucky."

Melou is actually smiling. "I still don't know what you're talking about."

If Melou should walk down by the lake, he'll find Hisoka in his ice skates, coasting on the lake's frozen surface. He is being wary, because he's heard Iskierka melted part of in order to take a bath, some weeks ago, and he isn't sure if it that area has completely solidified again, yet. So he is testing the ice, so to speak.

He spots Melou with that incredible smirk on his face. "You look happy," he calls. He angles towards shore....so he can get a better look.

"I do not," Melou says, because he has to be contrary and deny everything.

He's still grinning like an idiot, though.

"Yes, you do," says Hisoka.

"I do not," Melou says again, but he's only half serious.

Since this has the potential to be hilarious (and infuriating on Utena's part, since she is a tad naive at times) we are gonna send her in. Utena may come across Melou around the kitchen, and honestly... she's mystified as to why he is so happy.

"Melou... are you ok?"

It's that weird.

"I'm fine," he says, in response to Utena's question. "Why would you think I wasn't?"

He's smiling when he says it, though.

A very awkward morning after in which the lady you slept with doesn't even remember meeting you or the fact that she was that person? (Then again, Harumi and Maria are very different, and Melou might not see himself.)

In the main room, there's a slightly familiar face reading a book of poetry, she honestly doesn't even notice Melou.

Melou does notice the similarity. He stands in the doorway for a while, just staring at her, because she looks different. But he can tell that it's her.

"Maria?"

She lifts her head with a confused look on her face.

"Hmmm?"

"I..." Melou starts and trails off, completely thrown by her reaction. "What are you doing?" he asks, because he can't come up with anything else.
