Killing it is pointless. It will just create a new timeline and continue its work, stronger than before. The goal is to drive it back into the Darkness Beyond Time.

The Darkness Beyond Time is a realm that can only be opened one way. The trick is getting it to open back up. Given the first time was an accident, then I need to see what went wrong and replicate that accident.

Though I am not familiar with your methods, it does seem that such a difference between the intended result and the actual one...would require some large error.
