I listened to a bit of a rant this morning from one of my co-workers.
"If you don't like the government you have.... get involved in the political process!" and he pretty much yelled that at me. He seemed angry at those "tea party" demonstrators and the factions that voted down local government increases for police, or for my office, etc. He ( Read more... )

I think that you are right, for sure on the local level. I think there are people who think that is the way "to get theirs." Like the guy who you mentioned prosecuting. And, throw the bum out doesn't work either if the replacement is no better. Whatever happened to people who want to serve to do what is best for the town, county, state, board of education (oh sorry we do know one of those good guys), and it even seems to happen in organizations. People seem to want to be a big frog no matter how little the pond. I like the idea of seeing them in their every day life. You might not elect some guy that just sits at his job and doesn't seem to accomplish anything. You also might not elect a guy or gal who comes home and kicks the dog. I think tv ads should be totally banned. I think the candidates need to go out there and shake hands and look the voters in the eye. I think we need to get away from the sound byte. And, I think the process of getting elected takes too long. I think it should be 90 days start to finish, period ( ... )
