Those are adorable. I am sure I have seen them in the past but had forgotten. How creative. You could sell them. I don't understand the issue with the x-spouse and partner, but then if you come from a family that doesn't give without strings it might be more understandable. Sometimes you need to make things because you want to and if they stay at your house so be it. I think they are great and I think I would treasure a stocking like that made by my Grandma.

A really nice project! L. just bought mittens from a lady who made them out of recycled sweaters. Motley and fun. Your stockings seem like a similarly inspired project.
