Fear

During my high school and college years I took 3 speech classes.  I managed to pass these classes but I never got over my fear of speaking in front of a large room.  With each assignment my anxiety would build until I finally stood in front of the class with my heart pounding and my brain in chaos. My voice would give me away the minute I opened my ( Read more... )

I thought you did a fine job and I know M. and S. appreciated it. It was a lovely service all around.

We take for granted things that come easily to us. You seem to express yourself in writing so well. I often feel like I wasn't able to get my point across. In high school speech I really struggled, when I had to give a speech and "to test" out in college I was pretty scared, but at some point in my college career getting up in front of people was no longer a problem. Now for me it is no big deal. I love to read from the Bible out loud (as long as there aren't too many unpronounceable names). I have noticed the large number of ministers who stumble through it and that does help.

I did not realize how hard it was for you to do that which makes me even prouder of the great job you did, and you did look great with or without the cool coat. Proud to point you out as my sister.

I agree that you were really, _really_ wonderful. You read it and expressed the love and ancient beauty of those words perfectly. I for one felt surrounded by your voice and the words as I was listening, and was so, so blessed and thankful by everything that was going on in the service, and by having the honor of marrying Matt-- and your voice and reading facilitated that. Thank you.

Thank you so much! pkhentz January 9 2010, 21:04:12 UTC
It was great to hear _your_ voice reading those words. Not only was I happy with how well you read it, but that we could have you participating so meaningfully in the service. I am glad you were able to prepare yourself and face down your anxieties around public speaking to be able to do that for us. It meant (and means) a lot to us.
