Dunk and I had a much needed and spectacular moment on Saturday.
Where my grandchildren are concerned, "moments" are about all we have.
Our grandchildren live in a scary situation but are hopefully getting support they need from one of the adults present in their lives.
But for bravery, this one has to be the most amazing.  Even more than L who has

I try, but I can't understand the motivations of M, D or the X. I can't imagine the pain you are going through. I can assure you, small comfort that it might be, that if/when we ever have children, you are welcome to come into our lives and their lives whenever you want, to give and receive affection. We love you.

I think the hardest part is the lack of understanding. I truly don't understand the -"We will not have people in and out of our kids lives when they decide they want to care." The inconsistent people were not you and Dunk as far as I could tell. The inconsistent people are M and D. There is a word for that, is it telegraphing? Where you put your issues onto someone else instead of owning them yourself? How can someone know you and not know that you care all the time and would show it all the time if allowed? I think it is their inconsistency and you trying to deal with it that made your lives so hard. Wow! Praying hard for you all.
