Holidays can be very sad.
When you are facing a day that holds special memories and certain expectations, this time of year can be more difficult than happy. 
Is it best to run away from the festivities and bury your hurt or to reinvent your holiday and those deeply held expectations.

I will not say that I feel your pain, because I cannot even begin to grasp what you are going through. I do know what it is like to find yourself alone on a holiday with no family to gather with, and so I know that in itself is hard. I think the stockings are words of art and that there are families out there that would love to grace their holiday seasons with your precious creations. You might talk to the C girls and see what they think. They are sensitive, thoughtful, and creative and they might have some good ideas. Know that you will be in my prayers especially on Thanksgiving day.

The stockings are a powerful symbol. You have poured yourself into creating them and it's disappointing and frustrating that they won't be seen by the people for whom you created them. But what can you do? You can't forget your grandchildren or go on with your life, pretending that they're not out there. In a way, all you can do is hang up the stockings and hope that some day they'll come to the mantle and find them.
