Short Circuit was a movie from the 80's (US) about this robot that was designed by the military to be used as a soldier, but a freak lightning storm hit the power grid and sent a surge to where the robots were charging. Johnny 5 (robot prototype #5) got fried and it messed with his circuits or something, and accidentally creating an artificial intelligence. Awesome movie to see as a little kid, as was a LOT of the stuff in the 80's. I mean it WAS the "age of excess" after all.
Some guy just redid the voice of the robot to make it funny is all.
Oh I remember that movie coming out, I just never saw it. (I was in high school and university in the 80's. lol) Somehow I think the original version of Johnny 5 would pale in comparison to the revised one. >;-P
