Jesus, man. Don't DO that. I haven't seen any of Season 5 and I just, honestly, got a little excited when you mentioned Lambert, then I got upset because I thought I'd read a spoiler, then I got depressed when you mentioned Reeves.
But I understand now. And I know what you mean. I'm falling back on the knowledge that I still have two books, a miniseries and another show of his to run to, even though it can't possibly be The Wire.
I'm in the last few minutes of the first episode and already I'm in it to win it. And it's fucking depressing. The old McNulty is back, which is really sad. As much as I loved him in the first two seasons, I really liked seeing him get his shit together with Beady. Seeing Herc working with Barksdale's lawyer just doesn't fit at all. And losing all the Marlow shit is almost too much.
I'm glad I have a backlog of these things. And when I get to Boston I'm starting it all over again, force feeding it to other people. This is one to buy.

Season five man, it's just...
It doesn't miss a beat, not one beat. So far it's shaping out to be the best one yet. *knock on wood*
