I think I'd probably be quite happy with giving the police a sample of my DNA (no different from a fingerprint, in my book) but that's another essay for another time.

No different from a fingerprint? I agree. Which is why I also hate the idea of giving my fingerprints, and I wish I hadn't submitted to this humiliating requirement in order to enter the US and Japan.
Right, so if they stopped you in the street and demanded your fingerprints do they have a right to them? I hope not. Do you have a right to record them trying to arrest you? I believe many police officers think not.
Worrying times - and all I can do is write to my MP about it...
