Goodness! I knew the airports at Manchester, Liverpool and East Midlands were closed, but had no idea the snow was causing effects as far south as Gatwick. I hope she's safely airborne by the time you read this!

Eventually Emirates gave up hope that Gatwick would reopen their runway and bussed their passengers to Heathrow, where they laid on extra planes to take them to DXB. Thence they managed to find Beth an empty seat on the DXB-HKG flight departing the next day, so she arrived last night exactly 24 hours late. She is now in Mui Wo, Lantau Island.
Well thank heavens for that. What an ordeal. What an achievement, too - I can't even get to Redhill! (Actually I probably could, eventually, but my work today admits of me doing it at home rather than arriving late, leaving early, and risking the dodgy ankle). The Godmother

If the snow prevents me from getting to karaoke tomorrow I shall be very upset. And if I make it, I shall dedicate a song to you in warmer climes.
