The Home Office, two Prime Ministers and a number of Home Secretaries have claimed on numerous occasions that the ID cards will keep us safe and protect us from identity theft. Questioned on their security, they assure the public that the cards will be robust.

Maybe they're not using it because they have a little more respect for the man who was assassinated, and the fact that it's an ongoing investigation that could do with out the news reporters clouding the issue.
