First of all, I think you can do pro design. I think you have the talent, knowledge, and ability to do it. I think the reason it hasn't worked out is that a career takes a lot more than skill. Typically, you get a crap entry job at a company that at least is in the field, then you work insane hours and do project for them on your own time and over years you work into what you want. But that takes time, and energy, two things in short supply for a single mom ( ... )

Persevere! You have to get what you want, not wait around for it to come to you.

You anger me, bitch.

well I havent exactly been sitting around waiting for it to come to me heh.

Hit a lot of roadblocks along the way, you know that.

This all comes from the fact that I am getting older and madder that I dont have it yet heh.

Breaking Into the Industry duicarthan January 31 2007, 12:20:34 UTC
What you need is the break into the industry. Whether this be through friends in the industry or just through exposure.
I've been struggling with this a long time myself, however. I just broadened my perspectives to include a lot of different subjects that will get me to something I can enjoy doing.

Anyway, if you'd like exposure I can offer that to a degree. I'm the editor in chief of The Oerth Journal and I'm ALWAYS looking for fantasy art. Scan and email anything or ask me if I need anything specific. The Oerth Journal is read by at least several thousand people across the planet, including the current staff of Wizards of the Coast/ and Paizo Publishing. If anything its exposure and you have an in with the editor. =P
