I did not have a good run last night. I felt really strong and my heartrate was where I wanted it to be during the run, but at around the 1.5 mile mark my knees started to ache. As I approached the 2 mile mark they started to ache a lot more and I ended up having to stop ( Read more... )

I'm really looking forward to breaking 5 miles. Getting past 4 and a half, ish, has been like wrestling with a wild mountain gorilla. I just can't seem to win. I will not be defeated!

:) I like the analogy. When I hit 4 miles and didn't feel like throwing myself under a car at the end, I realized 5 had to be doable soon and so I signed up for a 5 mile race and less than a week later I managed to pull it out - was doing 11+m miles (I'm slow as hell) and ended up with 10m35s miles on race day - thank god for adrenaline.

You're SO close!!!!

Good luck, I stay around the 2 mile mark. ;) My girlfriend just did 5 miles last night at a 9:56 pace. She can run my ass into the dirt...

That's a fairly good pace actually to maintain for 5 miles. It isn't earth shatteringly fast, but it *is* below 10 minutes a mile which is very good for a training run.

I suspect tomorrow's run will be much better, with me back up in the 4 mile range.
