Kelly and I went to see Star Trek this past Friday. All in all we enjoyed the movie, and I thought it was a very well done sci-fi film. My only gripe is that once again the writers pulled out the time travel card. Every Star Trek series had at least one episode that involved time travel with Enterprise using it the most often, even going so far to base the entire series on a time travel plotline. To me, unless it is handled very carefully, time travel is a huge cheat of a plot device almost on the level of breaking out the good'ol standby deus ex machina. I'll give the writers credit for not having some last minute time travel undo button that restores the timeline, but I don't understand the resistance of using an undeveloped plotline for the film. Give the Tholians some love. What about the Jarada? The initial Klingon war. wtf.
