The question that strikes me is, why the hell did we ever go to Sugarmann's? For the life of me I cannot remember anyone buying anything there, ever, though I'm sure someone must have. What I remember is wandering around with the big orange signs overhead (HOME APPLIANCES, etc.) and thinking, 'when are we going to get to leave here and go to Pizza Hut?'
So, can I tell you? This entry is hilarious and wonderful because I know EXACTLY what you're talking about, although I've never been. When it first opened, it wasn't an IMAX theater but a ride. It was called MOM -- Motion Odyssey Machine -- and it worked like Star Tours or Body Wars or one of those virtual reality-type rides at Disney World. And I never understood that. I saw the ads and I was like... a ride. In a furniture store. I don't understand.
But I think that's the point. That it's so strange and unique that it makes you want to go. And the ads! Oh man. I miss the great state of Massachusetts some days...
glad i could make you smile. :) also, i didn't know about this MOM! good to know. kathy will be amused. since i knew we were roughly in your neck of the woods, i found myself telling her about you a lot.
speaking of. she and i are going to be in new york next week. we will be flitting between manhattan and brooklyn and jersey for a few days so i'm not sure if it'd be able to work out, but if possible - how would you and maybe aileen feel about dinner one night?
