Two Things You Should Watch/Read:
1. Savage Inequalities by Jonathan Kozol. This guy changed my sister's life, and now I finally understand why. An expose of public schools, and of the inherent racism/classicism in the educational system and the shocking conditions of schools in poor areas. If you are an American, you should read this book.

yeah Jonathan Kozol! He kind of changed my life a little, too :) He SPOKE at Villanova this year! Let's talk about how majorly ANGRY I was that it was in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday when I was, you know, doing my little part to change systemic evil by teaching 5th grade.

And oh, if you want more Kozol, Amazing Grace is really good, too, and is generally more about urban realities than just education. He has a new book out that i want to pick up called The Shame of the Nation.

I'll have to check the books out...thanks for the recommendations.

Of course I didn't see the same shows you did this year, but I gotta say that Jonny Lang was the best show I'VE EVER SEEN!!! Wish I could do that one again tomorrow.

And I just listened to that Snow Patrol song yesterday...I'm force-feeding them to myself so I can sing along to *all* their songs when I go see them in March. I am not minding it at all, either!

Jonathan Kozol's first book is called Death at an Early Age. Though it has the most depressing title ever, you might be interested in reading it because it's about when he was teaching in Boston in the 60s.

I LOVE lists, especially by you. I think this has inspired me to have my own list..... hmmm.
This is gonna sound REAL dorky, but I feel such a great sense of pride that I helped introduce you to a lot of stuff on this list, or at least participated with you in the enjoyment of them. Sufjan and the Jenny Lewis album (and concert, and Imogen Heap and Neko Case too. Wow, I'm sooooooo cultured and fab.

I love you a lot. Heehee.
