This time I challenged myself to avoid all pencil lines and do the whole thing with only graphite powder and eraser, to get a more painterly than graphic effect. Cuteness warning! ( Read more... )
Awwwwwwww he looks exactly like my shetland pony who died a couple years back named Pooh Bear.... [is suddenly extremely sentimental and wants to hug the pony]
The pony actually belonged to a close family friend who got me a horse so I could join the local Pony Club and get better at riding. Pooh had been her since he was just a colt and he was in his mid twenties when I started going out there to ride. Lesse... I started going out there in 8th grade.... ummm, I knew the pony for 7 years before he died.
This is such an exact likeness of him it's amazing, and he was elderly of sorts when I had him. And spunky enough that he could open chests that were latched shut just to eat the unopened bag of apples [giggles fondly at the memory]

Seriously though, that's not a cutesy pony. It's a realistic-looking pony. Does it want an apple or something?

He's stunning and very realistic - looks as though he's being illuminated by either moon or lantern light.

Haven't much thought about the light source, save that it's a soft light.
