Not so new. He will be eleven years old this spring, and I have him since he was four weeks old. Sadly, my dearest white female dove died last April. :-( But I still have Prinz and Noah, a wild-coloured female. They are a happily married couple now. I only have to take care to remove every egg from the nest, or else I would drown in ringneck doves. I have given them a plastic egg to brood on, that prevents the female from laying more eggs.
I switched the lights off, so the room was dark. Doves don't usually fly in darkness. Also, ringneck doves are very patient and you can do things with them that few other birds would tolerate. He stood on the scanner with a very bewildered expression, but he was not really frightened.
Maybe you can find a wintering ladybug or something. And no, I will not scan his girlfriend. She is more nervous than he and I wouldn't annoy her needlessly. Besides, doves from below look all pretty much the same.
As far as houseplants go, I still remember your Egalmoth pansies with fondness.

I have a feeling that if I put one of my birds on the scanner all you would see is a big greenish splot.
