1. Sometimes, when I don't want to work on my dissertation, I watch classic TV as a kind of cultural history homework. This is the best way I can think of to explain all of the "Cheers" I have been watching. Main assessments: it still holds up well, and wow, "Friends" is more derivative than I could realize at the time

Re: Russian bureaucracy, I saw an awesome image macro a while back. Can't find the link now, but the caption was: "What should we do tonight, Vlad? Same thing we do every night, Dmitri! Take over the world!"
