No, not Kimba or Astro Boy... 動絵狐狸達引 (うごきえこりのたてひき) (Ugokie: Ko Ri no Tatehiki), a Japanese animation made back in 1933. Pretty neat; reminds me of the American cartoons from that time.
It does seem to be heavily inspired by other animation of the time, though it's unmistakably Japanese. The tanuki appears to be inspired by Felix the Cat and there seem to be other things that look familar but I can't quite place them.
Yeah, I also thought of Felix when I saw the tanuki. According to the guy who uploaded the video to YouTube, the director was inspired by Max Fleischer cartoons, so that may be where the other stuff comes from. BTW, the same guy uploaded another Japanese toon from 1943: Kumo to Churippu (Spider and Tulip).
