new hours and getting sick snoopy314 December 8 2004, 16:27:09 UTC
It is getting so cold in Japan too! I am loving whoever invented a electric heater blanket.. I don't ever wanna come out of my bed!

4 also means death in Japan, so some buildings don't have 4th floor. I think 11 and 13 are also bad, although I'm not sure why. Lucky numbers are 3,5, and 7. Interesting to think about why :)

I don't know if i will have enough moola for japan!:(

Oh, I wonder why my aya didn't work.. Can you try emailing again at Kiks04@gmail.com? Sorry for the trouble!!

I live in Hyogo prefecture, in between Kobe and Osaka. I really hope you can come! I am looking forward to it :)

haha... sorry to hear it was cold... it's in the 60s with clear blue skies here in the ATL. your students are screwy. how would a gay loved one wanting to get married make you more opposed to gay marriage? i would think it would be the other way aroud? if someone you knew and cared for wanted to get married, you'd be more likely to support them and their right than a random abstract gay person?

secondly--you're absolutely right! :)

thirdly--i'm going to try and take a cooking class in thailand over break. it's fairly cheap! we'll see how it goes, though...:)

same sex marriage amendment in georgia amybelle2001 December 8 2004, 23:56:16 UTC
i'm not surprised by your students' reactions. we get some of the same narrowmindedness here in georgia. in the last election, the majority of voters in our home state voted the same sex marriage amendment into the georgia constitution. it was on the ballot under the guise of the simple phrase: "marriage should be a union between a man and a woman. yes? no?" this is deceptive phrased (illegally in my book b/c most voters don't know what they're really voting on) because it effectively cuts off all rights for same sex couples in the state of georgia. if a couple gets married in massachussetts and moves to georgia, their union WILL NOT BE RECOGNIZED IN A COURT OF LAW ( ... )

i think the georgia amendment also takes away the possibility for all partner benefits/rights of any sort as well, not just marriage. yay for my new home for the next 8 years! meanwhile, california voters approved funding for stem cell research.....
