Time vs Availability

A friend posted the following on Facebook:
"Time is all I own" --Joshua Radin

Here's the comment I left on that post:
How does one own time? It can't be stopped, advanced, directed, stored, or destroyed by act of will. Since it's only a measure of passing events, it can't even really be "used" or "wasted" in the common senses of the words. I think ( Read more... )

Very good thoughts/points here, Kevin. Very introspective....availability (or what I do with my time) is what we own...not time. I also appreciate your thoughts regarding opportunities and experiences. Sounds like you are opening up more as you age...or being more selective on where your focus is. The life from which you came loves you!

I'm taking a class on the early works of Heidegger next semester (really, the class I probably most anticipated about coming to school here). I read the first half of BEING AND TIME in 2005, and it changed my life. The thoughts you've shared here are preparation for me to return to that work ( ... )
