Ace consumed the Mera Mera no Mi which is a Logia type Devil's Fruit that gives him the ability to turn into fire at will as well as command it.
Kagerō (陽炎, Heat Haze): Ace shoots a stream of fire from the palm of his hand.
Hiken (火拳, Fire Fist): Ace's apparent signature attack and the source of his nickname "Fire Fist Ace". Ace turns his fist into flames and launches it as a column of fire at his target. This attack is so incredibly powerful that it is able to plow through several ships in one shot.
Higan (火銃, Fire Gun): Pointing the index and middle fingers of both hands at an opponent like guns, Ace turns his fingertips into flames and shoots bullets made of fire at them.
Enkai (炎戒, Flame Commandment): Ace amasses a large amount of flames around his body (usually by first swinging his outstretched hand around him, summoning the flames) in preparation for an attack. This is apparently the prerequisite technique before Ace can use Hibashira.
Hibashira (火柱, Fire Pillar): Used following Enkai. Ace shoots the collected flames straight upward, destroying a target above him.
Hotarubi (蛍火, Firefly Fire): Ace creates many small, glowing greenish fireballs that float around an enemy. The idea behind this attack's name is that before he attacks with them, the small fireballs look like fireflies in the air. This move is apparently used in preparation for Hidaruma.
Hidaruma (火達磨, Fiery Doll): After using Hotarubi to send the fireballs floating around in proximity with the enemy, Ace sends them all flying into the target(s) all at once, burning them
Shinka: Shiranui (神火 不知火, Sacred Fire: Mysterious Light at Sea): Ace hurls long lances made out of fire. The lances have the combined effect of simultaneously burning an opponent while piercing them.
Jūjika (十字火, Cross-fire): Ace puts his index fingers together in a cross shape before launching a cross-shaped column of flame directly at his opponent. In the anime, after crossing his fingers, a cross-shaped ray of light can be seen emanating from the fingers at the target followed by the column of fire.
Dai Enkai (大炎戒, Great Flame Commandment): A stronger version of Enkai where Ace summons great spiraling flames centered on his location before amassing it at a focused point (i.e. the palm of his hand) for a technique like Entei. In Unlimited Cruise, Ace activates this move by first bending his knees slightly and then placing the outstretched palm of his hand towards the ground (with his other hand gripping the wrist for support), where the flames manifest.
Entei (炎帝, Flame Emperor): Ace's ultimate technique. Ace creates a gigantic fireball resembling the sun and hurls it at his opponent to try to obliterate them.
Enjōmō (炎上網, Blazing Net): Ace creates a circle of fire around a selected area, preventing anyone from entering or leaving it.
Kyōkaen (鏡火炎, Mirror Blaze): Ace releases a firewall to block off an attack.

Being Logia, Ace can turn his body into a natural element - in this case fire - at will. Because of this, he can avoid normal attacks by turning into fire and allowing them to pass through him. He can also burn people, depending on which attack he uses.
Like any user of a Devil’s Fruit, Ace has weaknesses. Devil’s Fruit users are unable to swim when submerged in water; rain and waves do not affect them but standing water does and if any part of a Devil’s Fruit users body is submerged, they cannot use their powers unless their body has been permanently altered by it in some way. Seastone is another weakness; this substance emits the same energies as the sea meaning it cancels out their abilites when in physical contact with a user.
The Yami Yami no Mi eaten by Blackbeard has the ability to nullify the powers of other Devil’s Fruit users which Ace experienced first hand in his fight on Banaro. Because Logia users in particular use their abilities for self-defense, they usually don’t have to take physical blows and when Ace was weakened by Blackbeard’s attacks, he was visibly shocked by this.
Against ice (witnessed when he fought Aokiji) and smoker (witnessed when he fought Smoker) the powers seem to come to a stalemate. Magma, however, is stronger - Ace died when he was punched by Akainu's magma fist as it charred his insides.
Physically Ace is canonically as strong as 100 men as all Whitebeard Division Commanders are. This means that he has great physical strength, something developed in his harsh upbringing. At the age of ten (and implied before that too) Ace had few problems attacking wild beasts far greater in size than him to bring home as dinner in Mt. Corvo. He also beat up grown adults who said things about Gol D. Roger or more what should happen to any child he had - not knowing that Ace was, in fact, that child. Oh and he was able to kick a huge tree to break it with ease. Monkey D. Garp also showed up from time to try to beat some sense into Ace and Luffy he spoke of wanting to be pirates, hoping to train them to be great Marines. Even though Ace lost in his fight with Blackbeard, he was still able to take a punch that made him cough blood and another that nearly broke his neck and then go on to fight back. When Ace fought Jinbe (in his late teens) who was a whaleshark Fishman, they fought for five days before collapsing from exhaustion; immediately after this Ace survived fighting Whitebeard but again he passed out. Finally, even when stripped from his Devil's Fruit, Ace was able to take a 'baptising' in Impel Down with baptising being dipped in boiling water without screaming.
Haki (meaning ambition) can also weaken the attacks of a Logia Devil’s Fruit user.
Although it is isn't shown in the main storyline, Ace has been demonstrated to be a user of Haki - he did so as a child when he knocked out the Bluejam Pirates minus Bluejam who was extremely strong then. Ace also remarks at Marineford 'You too?' when he sees Luffy using Haki although Ace himself relied only on his Devil's Fruit.

The specific Haki Ace is noted as having is the Haoshoku Haki - the Conqueror's Haki which is extremely rare with only one in a million being able to use it. This Haki cannot be obtained through training.

Other skills Ace demonstrates are navigation as he is seen with a Log Pose whilst tracking down Teach with the seas in One Piece being notably difficult to navigate at times. He also carries a knife at one hip but doesn't use it outside of flashbacks where he uses an axe and a knife to try t kill Whitebeard. As a child he favoured a long bo staff made from a pipe.
