What's the difference between jelly and jam, and are both jelly and jan preserves?

Hey Jacks, I ask my husband and he says they're the same. Both are preserves. The difference is that jelly has gelatin and jam doesn't. :)

Both are reserves but Jelly is strained and jam has actual fruit in it.

I think I prefer jam, unless it's raspberry, which really hurts my teeth because of the seeds.

Lingonberries and red currants are my current favorites. BTW, my phone is taking the long tip to Grand Canyon and then LA before returning to me. It dropped out of my pocket in my friend's car visiting from Los Angeles.

That, and jelly is not as spreadable. It's almost jell-o. Jam is spreadable.
10 points for a great question.

You made me remember the smuckers jam slogan: Smuckers the spread that makes you smile. Sounds kind of nasty, but there you have it.

Thank you for the points. Where are they redeemable? Maybe if I could redeem those points at the Smuckers plant, I'll share my jam with you..
