People look at you as someone they trust, so when these people are bursting with "OMG I HEARD THIS CRAZY THING...I NEED TO TELL SOMEONE!" they think of you because they trust that if they tell you, you won't tell anyone else. I think everyone has that reaction to something "juicy" when it comes along.
Instead of telling friends i trust that know the other people in question, i'll vent to my grandma (because she doesn't give a fuck), St.Augustine friends (who don't know anyone up here), Kris (he doesn't know that many people, and he never talks to anyone, anyway), or i write it down and snicker that i know something a bunch of people don't know.
A good rule is, if you have to spread something (not in a malicious way, you just feel you need to tell someone), vent to someone who has no clue who you are talking about ( ... )
