Hate to sound all fundamentalist but it sounds like Revelations a bit, don't it? Fire and all, particularly in the heart of an ancient religion that had major influence in 'that era' of time.

Fires are to summer in Australia what snow is to winter in Canada.
Most of us have evolved, though, as humans tend to, such that we can now stand up a minute of being spontaneously combusted.
I don't think Revelations was written with the incendiaries in cigarettes in mind.
