10 February 2005
Dear Applicant to the United World Colleges/Davis Scholar Competition,
As of today, we have received (as indicated by “X“) the following parts of your application:
A)__x__ Applicant Information and Essays
B)__x__ Counselor Recommendation and Transcripts
C)__x_ Mid Year School Report
D)_ x___ Teacher Reference
E)_ ___ Extra-Curricular Reference
Please follow up on any missing documents by having them faxed to us at 505-454-4294. Please also insure that hard copies of all faxed documents with original signatures are mailed to us.
We recognize that some of your schools were unable to process your mid year grades by the February 7 deadline, so your guidance counselor may not have sent your mid year report on time. Do not worry, but ask your counselor to fax (505-454-4294) whatever is available as soon as it is available.
The US Selection Committee is about to begin the process of reviewing applications, and discussions on applications will continue until the third week of February. A letter stating the US Selection Committee’s final decision to either extend an offer for an interview or to decline admission will be mailed to all applicants approximately three days after discussions are concluded. If you do not receive a letter by March 3, please call us at 505-454-4201. Please do not call or e-mail us before March 3.
Selective schools like the UWCs attract far more qualified applicants than they can accept. Approximately 300 students have applied this year, 50 of whom will be offered admission. It is our strict policy not to discuss individual decisions with applicants, parents, or guidance counselors so please do ask for such information.
Whether or not you become a Davis Scholar, you have the spirit to make this world a better place. It is an honor to consider your application.
Respectfully
Tim Smith
Director of Admission and University Advising
