The Youth For Life group has been demonstrating against the Abortion Law Reform Bill that was passed in August last year, it legalises abortion within 24 weeks and beyond 24 weeks if the person's health is at risk by continuing the pregnancy ( Read more... )

I totally agree with you.

But, this doesn't mean that I'm not going to steal one of your Aussie women from your country! :)

Well, that's the plan, depending on how things work out.

It's actually kind of funny to think that I would fall in love with a woman from Australia. So far away. A place I have never been, but a place that I will most certainly take time to vacation at now.

Oh, it's a great wide world, but oh so small at times. :-)

Hehe, I don't think the country is much of an issue as the culture is. I think meeting someone from a non-western culture would be ba bit of a spin because they can live totally different styles of life.

Other than minor local issues you wouldn't find a huge difference here because our cultures are almost identical. We just have slightly different values based due to the different process of our country's evolution to yours, but I know a lot of people who live here that came from Canada, England and America and they found the transition very easy.

I don't see what say anyone other than the mother should have in an abortion. I'm sure she'll still live with the guilt long after, even if she doesn't think she'll have any.

As for people from other countries.. I think they should have a heavier fine or punishment than the natives -especially- for blocking a hospital. It's one thing to block your own, but to go to another country & do it is just screwed up. It's really no wonder that American Travellers are always seen in a negative light by people of other countries. The ones that can travel go & do stuff like this.

Yeah, I am sure it has an impact on the mother, if not at that time then further down the track. It is an emotional issue and I don't think some think through about how much it will affect them, I think part of the process should be to educate and make sure each mother is fully aware of the consequences of their decision ( ... )

It is not about trying to dissuade them from making that decision but ensuring they understand all the issues. Some of the Youth For Life protesters are mothers who have aborted and regretted the decision because they felt they weren't made aware of the consequences.

I don't understand how anyone could not be aware of the consequences, especially since there's so much debate over the topic.

I do feel for some fathers because they really have no input other than the conception part and are legally/financially responsible if the child is born unless the child is adopted or their rights severed by a court.

I honestly think that's an archaic law made when a woman's primary job was to be a homemaker & have babies. Back before women's lib when a woman would lose her job if she got pregnant, no matter what it was. Now that a woman can work until she goes into labor, I don't see why the father should have to pay. But in another light, maybe the money is to try & get the father to participate in the child's life. How paying child support is ( ... )
