Heard about this yesterday and have signed. I have no idea if this is true or not -- it sounds so insane I find it hard to believe it is -- but am not taking any chances.

The reason I posted the Amnesty International link is that I figured there would be other people like me who were so flabbergasted by the idea that they had trouble believing it could be real.

But yes. It is. Or was. I'm not sure on the current status.

Either way, it's a hideous idea.

Indeed. There's been a huge outcry against it, which is good. It passed the first reading but requires two more, so one hopes it will fail in the end.
