“Come to bed with me, Shin.”
Shinya hesitates.
“Shin. It’s not the end of the world.” Die, patient. “It’s only sex. People who love each other are known to do it.”
“I know, but...”
“But. You don’t trust me?”
A frown. “I do.”
“But?”
The word hangs heavy in the air, and Shinya half expects it to hit him like a rock.
But everything remains the same.
Even Die.
Calm, unwavering.
Waiting for him on the bed.
Cozy. Warm. Secure?
Shinya hesitates.
“I do... love you.”
“Yet, there is always a ‘but’ with you.” Die doesn’t sound defeated, though, not angry, not frustrated; not even indifferent.
He sounds like Die.
His Die. Like he always does, and always is, too. His.
“Shin...” He speaks softer now, with a hint of gentleness in his voice. “Come. I’ll just hold you, alright?”
Shinya takes a step towards the bed. One step. Two steps. Three, four, five - and suddenly he is there already.
Die’s hands are warm when they pull him against a firm chest, warmed by his own body heat under the blanket where Shinya is now, as well. Then, gentle lips find his, and Shinya thinks that maybe he is finally getting ready to let go.
