Hooray for you! It's been a long race, but you've run the entire thing--and that while juggling motherhood and other RL concerns. I'm very pleased for you, and excited, too. Hope you find a job that puts your sharp insight and other unique talents to good use.
Ooh.. thanks! You guys are really good to me. I really appreciate it. x
Oh, and I'm really sorry I didn't call last night.. I fell asleep. I'll be around every night this week though, so anytime that's good for you we can have that chat.
No book recommendations as I have been so busy I've not really read anything that wasn't either directly work-related or mostly work-relevant (e.g. FT, The Economist, HBR, etc.)
I'm still supposedly reading The Pure Land by Alan Spence, which seems like a good read (about a Scotsman (wiki-link) who was one of the early traders in Nagasaki at the end of the 19th century). It's an interesting story, but as the reviews at Amazon make clear it's not necessarily the most accurate historical novel.
Is nice to see you around these parts. Sorry to hear you've been working quite so hard! I'll check out the Spence book.. there's quite a bit of the dramatised history around now, I know some of it can make for a pretty good read. :)

I think it will sink in more once a little time has passed - and once I get my results, of course!
