.picnic day and dixonites.

as always i have successfully waited so long to update the events of last weekend that most of the interesting novelties of it have slipped away and all i'm left with are the bare details of the main things i did/saw. here it is anyway:

saturday was picnic day. last year's picnic day was pretty lame cuz it was pouring down rain and no one was prepared. i went to campus for a total of maybe 30 minutes to check out a couple bands, then retired back to south davis. the year before that was a depressed mess of loneliness as my dumbass ex and i had broken up for that week and i wandered around campus by myself, luckily running into some cool people while i was there, but it was nonetheless terrible. this year definitely redeemed itself, even if it wasn't exactly super fun exciting party time. hung out with the usual homies. checked out tot and temescal girls at the fashion show. went to freeborn and saw karla, fawn and my cousin neal (an interesting mix) among many others dancing tahitian style on stage. it was much cooler than i had expected. enjoyed the mostly nice weather, nachos, random music on the quad, etc.

later that day we headed to 720 and saw some crappy band play at 720dan's friend's bday party. otis, megan, dan, rishi and i retired to otis' room, ignoring the weirdness that lie beyond his bedroom door, took some pictures and tried to get otis' new projector thingie working. to no avail. i'd post the pictures but they're at my place and i haven't been there in quite a while. anyway, eventually more people started showing up, and they had a couple kegs there so some of us were venturing outa the bedroom here and there to refill cups and such. personally, i kept my bottle of jack in the kitchen so i'd have something decent to drink.

on one of my journeys to the freezer two guys suddenly cross my path. brian and eric from dixon?! ahhhh, too weird. brian says, 'whats the matter? don't recognize me?' of course i do, the whole dixon shock is just too much for me to handle, however. so i talk to eric a bit and then he gets a phone call. it's the OTHER eric! ahhh, craziness, so other eric says he's coming over to the party. this is too weird i think (haven't seen these guys in years). so i go into the backyard for something, can't remember, and who do i see there but beau! ahhhhh, we totally kinda were seeing eachother back in high school senior year and i ditched his repeated efforts to be his girlfriend. 'hey terra' he says with his classic beau smile. this is outa control. two seconds later i see two more dixonites whose names are escaping me right now, lesser known boys (one who i was never particularly friends with anyway). brian talked to me about music and stuff. it was really way too weird, have i expressed that enough? the scenester attitude was way too much to handle, really, i had to get outa there. i see other eric and talk to him about his new girlfriend. he was hangin at the cantina! what is this world coming to? i retired to otis' room shortly thereafter, but when a decent sounding band started playing (apparently from santa cruz, called 'itsawhale'), i had to go to the living room to check em out. sitting on the couch and some dorky guy tried hitting on me (hey, what's your name? you go to davis? what's your major?) hehe. he got up to take a phone call, two seconds later another guy sat down. his flirting wasn't as blatent, and he informed me he was friends of the band and told me their name. again i went back to otis' room.

mikey came over at some point and i believe we piled in his car to another party (i forget who, i think i was kinda drunk). the party had way too many people and the house was way too nice. i had to pee in a bathroom that looked like a public restroom, complete with urinal and all, with no working door. i had some guys stand guard. the place was chaotic. stood around in the backyard and we all decided to just leave. on our way back to empty house on 5th street, mikey pulled over to give two hitchiking girls a ride. they were also from santa cruz and were looking for 'sterling university' coincidentally enough. i told them i live there and the place sucks ass. we gave em a ride there anyway. went back to MT and slept the night away
