Characters: The body of Cloverfield; any and all characters that want to investigate
Content: Cloverfield is dead. What is there to discover?
Location: Along the southernmost tip of the island
Time of day: Starting in the morning
Warnings: Just giant dead monster and all grossness associated with it thusfar; will be updated as the thread develops.
(As with all large gathering threads, start new tagchains for new conversations. If you see any threads left untagged, please try to tag there instead of necessarily starting new conversations, as there should be plenty to go around.
The only responses from "Cloverfield" will be answers to observational questions: i.e. what the monster's skin feels like, what happens when you attempt to stab/burn/freeze it, what samples or artifacts can be taken from the body, etc. For the sake of consistency, don't assume the monster feels/reacts any particular way; you will get third-party responses for that.)
It was dead.
Thirty stories of long-limbed monster lay sprawled across the coast, half in the river and half out of it. The ground nearby was completely trampled from its frantic turning in circles, and a long line of trees and walls lay crushed beneath its incredible bulk. There was no way to move the body, at least in one piece.
It lay on its side, enormous forearms sprawled one across the other, and with its head tilted to one side against the torn ground. Its mouth was wide open, massive teeth lining what looked like the entrance to some pitch-black cave. Its great black eyes were fogged over in death, and the strange sacs behind its eyes remained still.
Perhaps most telling of all, the gray-skinned back of the monster was completely void of parasite crabs. They had all abandoned her back during the start of her death throes, as if sensing that the end was near. Cloverfield had died alone.
